Please note that the Seamen’s Bethel is regularly scheduled for various events such as baptisms, weddings, and memorial services. During this time the Chapel, and at times the Salt Box, will be closed to outside visitors for these events, often up to several hours at a time. You may contact the Port Society Complex when planning your visit to inquire about the upcoming weekend schedule. Most events occur on Saturdays and Sundays, with some exceptions on weekdays. Please plan your visit accordingly.
The Seamen’s Bethel will be closed some Monday holidays, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and some additional days. For information on Mariner’s home hours during holidays, please contact the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
Admission to the Seamen’s Bethel is free; donations are welcome and appreciated. Both the Bethel Chapel and Mariner’s Home are now fully accessible, with a central elevator and accessible bathrooms.
Free 2 hour parking is available on Johnny Cake Hill. Paid parking, including metered street parking and 2 parking garages, is available nearby.
